Rise in liquor outlets linked to violence
An alcohol accord was established in October 2006 and includes a one-way door policy in city bars, where no-one can be admitted after 4am. "The alcohol accord is being circumvented by the fact that people can go into a 24/7 dairy and purchase alcohol," he said. "We need to review the council's policy on alcohol and licensing in the city," he said. Parker said the Christchurch City Council would struggle to control the number of liquor licences under existing liberal licensing laws. .
